I Heard Her Wild Voice Call Me

Willow is kestrel that was injured and came to live in a local Audubon Center. When the center was given over to the state Conservation Department she was sent to another wildlife center for raptors no longer able to live in the wild. I often visited her to sketch, photograph, and on occasion hold her on my gloved hand. She is depicted here in homage to Carel Fabritsius painting of his beloved "The Goldfinch" in 1654.
