Cradle

This piece is part of a series I created during my TEAD One Artist Residency from July - September 2023. The series of paintings focused on different aspects of the Divine Feminine. Cradle is about the act of creation and the beginning of all things. It could be argued that women are the ultimate creators and destroyers because of our ability to grow and birth humans and shed what’s no longer needed from our bodies monthly. Whether it's maternal or not, Femininity often encompasses nurturing and growing of people, things, and homes - symbolized by the luminescent womb-like figure in the painting, surrounded by fleshy red throughout the rest of the canvas.
