Seeking Solace in Butterfly Garden

ARTIST STATEMENT: 2020 was a year of being bombarded in the daily news with combative, partisan politics and horrific Covid-19 statistics, regarding deaths and hospitalizations. I discovered that I was able to somewhat nullify my stress and experience a sense of peace and solace by creating new artworks. Depicting peaceful compositions, such as someone experiencing solitude in a butterfly garden was particularly relaxing and gratifying.
This Original artwork is a framed, Mixed-Media (paper, textured gels, glass beads, acrylic paint, metal, wire, plastic) Collage on Canvas.
This piece received "Honorable Mention" in Art Saint Louis' "Human Touch" exhibit.
