One of nine children, I was born in Boston, and except for a few years on the west coast have lived most of my life in New England. I spent my childhood summers in Westport MA, a pristine coastal town, and moved back to the area several years ago.
My art evokes the natural beauty of coastal New England, the ocean; the beaches and the wild life are my constant inspiration. I strive to pare down and find the essence of the subject matter by abstracting shapes and exaggerating color. Color and shape is the language I use to capture the feeling, mood or impression of my subject matter. I find straddling the edges of realism and abstraction the most exciting and challenging aspect of my art.
