damien sutton
Damien, born on Long Island, New York in 1977, is an American painter whose work is dark and sensual, fortuitous and discerning. For ten years Damien roamed, moving from city to city, country to country, living different lives. Running from something or to something is uncertain. Art became his center. For 6 years he studied the fine arts at the San Francisco Art Institute and earned his BFA at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2008. His final collection foretold the next page in his life: maxillofacial prosthetics. For 4 years he worked with patients at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and the Bronx VA Hospital in New York City. Working with civilian as well as veteran patients that were missing facial parts due to trauma or disease, he created prosthetics that brought normalcy to their lives. He earned Certification as a Maxillofial Prosthetist in 2010. Following this experience, he turned around to meet a company in England and as part owner opened a New York lab for them in Chelsea where he fabricated custom silicone in-ear monitors and hearing protection for customers all over the country and the world, including a vast array of musicians in the main stream. Distanced now from that life since 2015 and observing all of this growth from a new perspective at 41, he has created his own company, DCSuttonDesigns.com, where he combines fine art, facial prosthetics and custom silicone creations that utter the next destination to appear; for him.
