Painting full time for 18 years, Harold Griner's paintings have been exhibited in local, regional, and national invitational exhibitions. He has won many prestigious awards, among them the Societies Award from the Florida Watercolor Society at their 38th annual Exhibition in September 2009. His paintings hang in private and corporate collections nationwide.
His medium is watercolor and he derives inspiration from his love of the South. He began at an early age gathering visual impressions about the Southern way of life. This process has continued life long and continues to be the driving force behind his work.
He seeks to share this love of the land and “Southerners” with those who view his paintings. The feeling or sense of “having been there” is a frequent viewer comment, and very gratifying to the artist. Harold Griner was born in Gainesville, Florida in 1947. He received a B.A. in Art from Florida State University in 1969.
