My life experience began as a native Texan, which did at times include
cowgirl hats and horses. As my travels led away from Texas, I was
fortunate to experience the professions of nursing, aviation/flight and
art, and eventually assuming roles as an instructor in each. Art has
unquestionably been the common sustaining thread beginning in
grammar school and lasting to the present. While rearing my son and
daughter, I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree, Fine Art, Drawing and
Painting, from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. My
professional interests and pursuits have evolved through art and
community to include schools, museums, adult education and
enrichment programs. My interests and abilities involve drawing, oil
painting, gilding, mixed media sculpture and silverpoint drawing. My
oil paintings come alive on canvas or wood panel. Gold or silver metal
leaf is used as a base color for the painting adding a rich, illuminating
tone to the hues that follow and always peeking through the coming
layers of paint. Gold leaf gilding is an ancient art technique that is
especially appealing to me because of the complicated process, labor,
illumination and end result.
