Kerima Swain
From doodling as a toddler in Taiwan, to being an artist today, Kerima has been creative all her life. After moving to the United States with her family at age 17, Kerima explored careers in Graphic Design and Art Therapy, and gradually shifted her focus to fine art.
In 2006, Kerima began showing her art publicly, and has since received numerous awards in juried exhibitions. Kerima’s artworks can be viewed at several galleries and venues in the San Francisco Bay area.
Kerima’s art skills are the cumulative result of self-study, experimentation, and
art-related training that includes painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, plein air, still life, abstract), drawing (pen, pencil, pastels), mixed media, 3D art, photography,
graphic design and art therapy.
Drawing inspiration from natural beauty and within her heart and soul, Kerima
continues to create, experiment, and have fun outdoors and in her studio.
Artist Statement
The strong pull of art creation has been with me all of my life.
Creative process fills me with a sense of awe and wonder.
What I create depends on my mood and what goes on around me.
Sometimes I draw inspiration from nature, locales or subjects that affect me.
Other times I allow creative energy to take me to surprising places.
I enjoy multiple formats and media, creating on location and in my studio.
My goal is to follow my heart and soul and keep on creating.
