Abstract, symbolic representation, of an ancient, historical city (Timbuktu), that flourished as a major, rich, trading, learning, and cultural center of the Mali Empire, in Africa, in the 14th century. Primarily trading gold, salt, ivory, and slaves, made it a focal point of enormous wealth for the likes of Mansa Musa.
