Typically, my paintings are filled with color. I did a series of three where I challenged myself to stick to black and white. I almost succeeded! I couldn't help myself and snuck in a little pink and gray-blue.
For each of these three paintings, I drew a cardinal. Cardinals have a sacred meaning for me and I wanted to include them, although you won't see them immediately.
What struck me about this piece is seeing the face. I didn't mean for a face to appear, but I loved discovering it and so I made sure she stayed.
