Pizzicato

This oil painting of an "Amati" violin dated 1620. In an era when the finest violins are fetching millions of dollars you might wonder if such objects ever reach the hands of violinists who are not millionaires. I was fortunate to be able to paint this lovely instrument. The little bird (a Verdin) lives in my backyard. The bird standing upon the strings made for the perfect title, "Pizzicato."
