Primrose - A love letter

When my wife, Nancy, and I moved to our homestead, she still worked for a company in California. To keep her employment, she had to travel to the office every month for a week or two. This separation was hard on both of us, especially Nancy, who loves our little plot of land. For two years, every night she was away, I made it my mission to take a picture of the sunset and send it to her. My way of sending a love letter.

Among the hundreds of sunsets, I captured—rain or shine—there was one that stood out as Nancy's favorite. It featured wild primrose, a flower that only blooms for a short time before the intense summer sun causes it to go dormant. On this day the primrose field in full bloom, with its delicate pink and white flowers, was illuminated by the golden hues of the setting sun, creating a scene of serene beauty and fleeting perfection.

Nancy no longer travels, and now we share the sunsets together.
This image captures not just a beautiful sunset, but the essence of our connection and the moments of joy that sustain us through times of distance and longing.
