Reaches of the Night I

Sooner or later the night sky fascinates and mystifies almost everyone. Your profession or your bank account don't matter. It is at night when the hustle of daytime has passed, that we feel our strong connection to our universe. In the presence of the moon and stars we are willing for at least a moment to “suppose.” While I have always been drawn to the natural world spending much of my free time camping with family, my fascination with the night sky began when my brother received a telescope as a Christmas present. He and I spent many evenings gazing at the beauty of the night sky as teenagers. My collages celebrate those feelings of awe, wonder, nostalgia, and a bit of magic. It is comprised of several types of papers monoprinted with acrylic paint and then reassembled before mounting on a deep wood panel. It is finished with cold wax.
