Tempest

2024, oil on gessobord, 16" x 20"

Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area and the second largest in the world by volume. Weather on the lake can become treacherous and marine conditions extremely hazardous for vessels of any size when the weather turns for the worse. Every year, Lake Superior averages about 30 inches of precipitation, most of it falling between the months of May through October. Over the years, some truly incredible storms have occurred on Lake Superior, wreaking havoc, sinking ships and causing coastal damage.
